What we build

Six kinds of web project

Most enquiries land in one of these. If yours doesn't, it's usually a mix of two — say what you're trying to achieve and we'll tell you which parts actually need custom work and which don't.

Ship your core product faster. We focus on essential features that prove your value proposition to investors and early adopters.

How we work

Opinions we've earned the hard way

Most "slow website" problems are architectural, not cosmetic. Compressing images is the last 5% of the job. The other 95% is deciding what renders on the server, what ships to the browser, and how much JavaScript a phone on a patchy 4G connection has to parse before anything is usable. We pick the rendering strategy per route — static for content, server-rendered for personalised pages, client-side only where it genuinely earns its weight.

A site that search engines can't read is a brochure. Every build ships with server-rendered HTML, one h1 per page, a real heading hierarchy, canonical tags, and JSON-LD structured data. It's why this page has schema for the service, the breadcrumb trail and every question below it — the same treatment we give client work.

Migrations are where rankings quietly die. When we replatform, we crawl the existing site first, map every URL to its destination, keep the redirect chain to a single hop, and watch Search Console for weeks afterward. Traffic dips during a migration are usually a missing redirect, not a mysterious algorithm change.

You should be able to fire us. Code lives in your Git organisation, infrastructure in your cloud account, content in a CMS you own the licence to. We document the handover properly. Being kept for the work rather than for the lock-in is a better business for both sides.

Technology

The stack, and why

Every agency lists the same logos. What matters is when each one is the wrong choice — so here's the reasoning attached to each.

Front end
ReactNext.jsTypeScriptTailwind

Next.js by default: server rendering and static output keep pages indexable and fast without bolting on a separate SEO layer later.

Back end
Node.jsPythonPHPPostgreSQL

Chosen per project, not per fashion. Node when the front end and API share types; Python where data work dominates; PHP where a mature CMS already fits.

Content & commerce
SanityContentfulStrapiShopify Plus

Headless where marketing needs autonomy and the same content feeds more than one surface. A themed store when it genuinely does not.

Infrastructure
AWSGCPVercelCloudflare

Edge caching and CDN by default, because a server in one region is a slow site for everyone outside it.

Performance standards

What we hold builds to

These are Google's published Core Web Vitals thresholds, not house targets. We treat them as a release gate rather than something to look at afterwards.

LCP
< 2.5s

Largest Contentful Paint — Google's "good" threshold. Enforced on real-device throttled runs, not just lab scores.

INP
< 200ms

Interaction to Next Paint, the responsiveness metric that replaced FID in March 2024.

CLS
< 0.1

Cumulative Layout Shift. Media gets explicit dimensions so nothing jumps as it loads.

A11y
WCAG 2.2 AA

Contrast, keyboard paths and focus order — also the accessibility baseline UK and Australian public-sector buyers ask for.
